ABOUT MRS. DAVIS

Hello! This is my 19th year teaching, and sixth year at Abney Elementary.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University, a Master's Degree in Reading Instruction from University of West Georgia, & a Specialist Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of West Georgia.  I live in Dallas with my husband and two sons.  My oldest son is in 9th grade at North Paulding & my youngest is in 6th grade at McClure Middle School.  We love going to the beach, watching the Braves, and going on hikes.  I'm excited to meet my students!  We're going to have an AMAZING year!  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. We will be working together as a team to help your child have a successful 4th grade year!

Supplies:  CLICK HERE FOR THE 4TH GRADE SUPPLY LIST

Arrival & Departure: School starts at 8:00 am, and drop off starts at 7:25 am.  Parents must stay in their cars and go through the line this year.  Dismissal begins at 2:20 pm. It will begin a little earlier during the first couple of weeks.

Visitors: The county is requesting that no adults other than staff enter the building.  This is for the safety of our students and staff.  This includes our volunteers, PTA, parents walking students to class, and those that eat lunch with students. No visitors will be allowed.  We promise to have enough staff members on hand to get each student safely to their classroom.

Food: No outside food will be allowed to be brought into the building. This includes birthday celebrations.  No food items or goodie bags may be brought in for any type of celebration. Lunchboxes are allowed, but please make sure your child has it in the morning.  Items left at home can not be dropped off throughout the day.  Please make sure they have their belongings before leaving home.  If a student were to leave a lunchbox at home, we will make sure that the student receives lunch from the cafeteria.

Breakfast/Lunch: We will be working to facilitate social distancing across the school.  At this time, breakfast and lunch will be eaten in the homeroom classroom.  Students will check in with their teacher in the mornings before reporting to the cafeteria to pick up breakfast, and then return to the classroom to eat.  Students will go through the lunchroom line with their teacher and return to the classroom to eat lunch.

Snack and Water Bottles: Please have your child bring a water bottle and snack each day.  Students will be allowed to refill their water bottles as needed.  Snack should be something that can easily be eaten while working.  Items that require spoons (fruit cups, yogurt, etc.) should be saved for lunch time.

Recess: Recess will be a little different this year.  We are going to work hard to make sure students get as much outside recess time as possible, but they may not have outside recess every day.

Class Dojo: Please download the app. We will be using this throughout the school year.  More information to come.
